This loop trail features an interpretive guide that you can download to your phone. The trail is 1.5 miles long so can be completed in a relatively short period of time, but we ambled along and stopped frequently to enjoy the scenery, spending all afternoon there. There are also a couple of benches along the trail for those who would like a nice place to sit, relax, and take in the forest.
Living in Santa Cruz is incredible and beautiful but these are the mountains I miss, rich with sagebrush and chaparral in the Los Padres National Forest. Some people say if you grow up near mountains, you’ll always feel a need to be close to them. Perhaps for you it’s the wide open sky above grasslands, an ocean, a river, or the desert.
