Listening for Fall
On my back gazing upward
Dry leaves rustling
Listening for Fall
On my back gazing upward
Dry leaves rustling
Brilliant twilight sky
Outlining the pure, dark form
Of oak trees above
The tree dances.
The tree is alive.
Am I?
Pure white sea foam
Warm beige sand
Vibrant green waves
Deep blue ocean full of life
And the lightest blue sky you can imagine
Reading my textbooks
On the couch all afternoon
Watching the light fade

Awake before dawn
Listening to the surf roar
A mile away
Heart swelling with love
Like high tide on a full moon
Sudden clarity
Scooby-dooby-doo
Follows alligator prints
Who stole the salad?
